This is just sort of whats been going on, we hope that we can give more details soon as well as get our newsletter done, but here is the highlights.
1.On 5/24 a group of people from the church that is Markina Valley Bible Baptist Church took a trip out to the provinces for a monthly prayer fellowship, we went because the church that was hosting is a mission out of our church & it was the one year anniversary since they were started.
2.When we got back at about supper time the man from church that was supposed to deliver the sermon for Sunday night texted Lloyd and and said he would not be able to cause he was working, so guess who got to preach there very first sermon. It was rather short but everyone said it was good (of course people in Philippines are to polite to say any different).
3. On Tuesday we went to the American Cemetery here in Manila, this is a place that was set for all the soldiers American & Filipino who died fighting the Japanese during WWII. It was neat they had a bunch of crosses for grave markers and then they had a wall full of names for all the people who were presumed KIA but no body was ever found.
4. On Friday we volunteered to help out w the youth team building activity. We took 30 something teenagers to this place in the mountains and the kids played different games and had different activities. We had fun, I mean I got to throw eggs at a bunch of kids (will explain later...maybe). Rae spent the entire day taking pictures and we both got sunburned(all kinds o fun).
5. When we got back Friday night from team building we went w the youth director some of the parents and like 15 kids to the mall and played arcade games and then we went an stayed the night at one of the families from church house and did a swim until like 1 am. We got up the next day and went back to church most fun thing about the trip was we got to take some interesting modes of transportation.Ill put a pic at the bottom of one of the types of transport methods we used and extra credit to whoever knows what its called.
6. We had a reception after the evening church service Sunday because it is Edith's birthday this week/it was a welcome party for us. It was a good time we had a couple different types of panset and some bbq pork and just got to talk w people and have a good time. Rae and I made 3 batches of cookies from scratch cause we could not find a cookie mix anyplace. That was all kinds o fun.
7. We are still trying to get settled and learn who people are and what we need to be doing. As of write now me writing this is taking a break from preparing for a sermon series that I will start teaching on Wednesday nights about the names of God. I am also reading through a series called Firm Foundations which is a book written by a missionary w New Tribes that gives a Bible overview form creation to Christ, that is the Sunday school series the church is doing and Ill be in that rotation next week. We have also been reading some of the 789,983 marriage books that Rae's grandparents loaned us (ok so maybe its not that many). Then I have a couple books on preaching that Im trying to read as well.
Im sure one of us will write and give more details and background about what is going on but we just wanted to keep all you peeps informed. Im just curious does anyone read theses things of course if no-one reads this then I will never know. Oh and if you would like you can skype w us its under cliff.rosenow
