Visas returned!!

We got our passports with our 60 day visas back from the philippine consulate earlier this week!  It was such a relief to have those, we were worried they wouldnt get back before we leave. It was kinda scary when we were told that without a 60 day visa we wont be allowed on the plane! I'm so thankful we got every thing approved and taken care of with a few days to spare. Only 17 days till we leave! It's so close, but we  have time to finish everything. I hope!

Happy

Last night one of my friends commented on how happy I seemed. I hadn't really thought about it, but I am a lot happier than I've been in several weeks. We're finally at a point in preparing for our trip that I can envision actually accomplishing everything we have to get done. I know that Cliff and I together can finish everything, and there's not even that much left. I feel like I can breathe again! This is doable, we can handle this, it will be great.

Manila Preperations Update

Well we are well on our way to beig ready to leave. We have our tickets, we leave the 13th of May from St. Louis.

I'm working on packing all our stuff that isn't going with us, and finding and buying some things my grandparents want us to bring them. We picked up the Balikbayan box we're mailing it all in from a Manila Forwarder rep tonight (it's a service that sends boxes to the Philippines, google it for more info) and we'll start packing it tomorrow.

Our support isn't where it needs to be, but it's growing which is good. We just have to trust God to provide what He thinks we need.We also found out that some of Cliff's family is planning on having a BBQ in our honor, and putting out a tip jar for our trip, which I'm sure will help tremendously with last minute expenses. It seems that everyday we are going to Wal-Mart to get something else we found out we needed.

We're having a few small issues with one of our visas, so we're working on getting that fixed.  It's nothing big, and totally fixable, we just have to get it done this week or it won't be done in time. The paper work is getting mailed off tomorrow, and we should get our passports and visas back by the 26th... A full two weeks before we leave. Needless to say I'm quite nervous, but I'm sure it will work out OK.

After a minor meltdown (I was just so overwhelmed with all that we have to get done) we made out a list of things that we have to do, and we're both working on it. It's going well, but we're definitely getting to the "hard" stage. We knew it would be difficult, but up until now it's been fairly smooth. So now we really have to depend on God, and trust Him for the outcome.

Camping with the Kids

Cliff and I took the two kids we mentor, Matt and Cece camping this weekend. We had a lot of fun! They loved hanging out with us, and we had a great time with them too. We went fishing, played in the sand, played at the playground, cooked hotdogs and s'mores, played games, read books, and all kinds of other stuff. The state park we went to had these petroglyphs (Native American carvings in rock) and we spend some time looking at those, and climbing all over the rocks in the field next door. The kids and Cliff about scared me to death at the scenic overlook, they kept getting really close to the edge! We spent all Friday afternoon, and Saturday morning and early afternoon at the state park, but around 3 it started to rain :( We had forgotten the rain tarp thing for the tent, and all our stuff got soaked. We talked to the kids, and we all decided to leave a little early, and go hoe Saturday night instead of Sunday morning. So we packed up (in the rain) and went back to the kids house for supper and to spend the evening with them. Then Cliff and I drove home, getting back at 11:30.  I'm so glad we got to go, it was nice to be able to spend some time with them before we leave. It's all those kids fault that we're together anyways! We wouldn't have meet if we hadn't volunteered to mentor them for Camp David. It's pretty awesome how it's all worked out!
