For Real

Cliff and I have toyed with the idea of going to the Philippines for a while now. We’ve talked to my grandparents, my parents, our pastor, our singles class leader,  and a few friends, and they all think it’s a great idea. Over the last few days we’ve talked and prayed about it a lot, and I think we’ve finally come to a decision: We’re going. It’s crazy, wild, weird, insane, and possibly the best thing we could do right now. So now we’re trying to get things like passports, visas, and finances in order.  One of the best parts of this plan? It doesn’t get cold in Manila!!

Our Song(s)

Cliff cant sing. At all. But he likes singing to me, and I like that he's so thoughtful, so it works out well. His favorite songs to sing to me are Good Morning Beautiful, and Forever and Ever, Amen. I really like both of these songs, and I love it when Cliff sings those words to me. I want those songs played at our wedding, it just fits. This is our forever and ever.

An Idea...

We've been trying to plan a wedding, figure out what grad school Cliff should go to, decide where we're going to live after we get married, and wondering how on earth our families are ever going to get along and agree about wedding stuff. In a rather heated, desperate conversation (after a weekend of getting nowhere fast with our families) one of us (I can't remember who) said we should just move to the Philippines and live with my grandparents. It started as a joke, we talked about how it would solve the housing problem, and it would be fun. But pretty soon we had a very long list of reasons to go, and almost none to stay. Then we sat down and had a serious talk. Do we really want to do this, or is it just a joke? Turns out, we both want to go! So now it's just figuring out the particulars and hoping our families dont kill us when we tell them.

Engagment

Cliff and I knew about two weeks into our dating relationship that we were going to get married. It was just a matter of time, really But we waited until the middle of August (the 20th) to get officially engaged. Cliff was very sweet, he took me to a park we went to on one of our first dates, and surprised me with my favorite flower and a picnic. He gave me a beautiful blue-green stone* and asked me to marry him. Obivously I said yes! About a month later we had a friend of ours take some engagement photos for us.
