Cliff and I took the two kids we mentor, Matt and Cece camping this weekend. We had a lot of fun! They loved hanging out with us, and we had a great time with them too. We went fishing, played in the sand, played at the playground, cooked hotdogs and s'mores, played games, read books, and all kinds of other stuff. The state park we went to had these petroglyphs (Native American carvings in rock) and we spend some time looking at those, and climbing all over the rocks in the field next door. The kids and Cliff about scared me to death at the scenic overlook, they kept getting really close to the edge! We spent all Friday afternoon, and Saturday morning and early afternoon at the state park, but around 3 it started to rain :( We had forgotten the rain tarp thing for the tent, and all our stuff got soaked. We talked to the kids, and we all decided to leave a little early, and go hoe Saturday night instead of Sunday morning. So we packed up (in the rain) and went back to the kids house for supper and to spend the evening with them. Then Cliff and I drove home, getting back at 11:30. I'm so glad we got to go, it was nice to be able to spend some time with them before we leave. It's all those kids fault that we're together anyways! We wouldn't have meet if we hadn't volunteered to mentor them for Camp David. It's pretty awesome how it's all worked out!
